What's an API?
API, or application programming interface, is a list of instructions for developers allowing them to communicate with our vision recognition servers. Cortexica does the heavy lifting, building the hardware and software infrastructure, providing hosting space for images and a zippy recognition service. Developers need only to add a couple of lines of code to their apps add a whole new layer of interactive experience to a mobile device.

What's VisualSearch™? It’s a ground breaking technology, an amalgam of
- specially selected hardware components
- innovative, patent protected algorithms mimicking the human visual cortex
- highly efficient software implementation
It helps app developers and content providers to associate content with specific images – a brand logo, a music video frame, a modern painting, book cover, grocery label etc. If this an image is added to our database and an app user submits a photo of this object he or she will receive information or digital goodies that the owner of a database containing it has chosen to send back.

Want to try the API?
If you are an established app development company, working with high profile brands or have an exciting idea leading to high visualsearch volumes, we’d love you to hear from you. The next step is to click here, to apply. giving as much information as you can, and we’ll get back to you. |

Example Case Study
A digitally savvy East London graffiti enthusiast compiles a database of art images found outdoors in the E1, E2, E8 postcode area. She connects the individual images to artists’ MySpace page and sets up a Wiki for other aficionados to upload either newer images (the more images of the same artwork – the better) or up-to-date information about the artists. She releases a smartphone app that connects the smartphone user who took a photo of a new painting to said wiki, artist’s MySpace page or suggests an upcoming music event associated with this artist or this area in the city.
